About ManuNexus

ManuNexus is a Manufacturing Network Navigator: a digital platform for representing manufacturing ecosystems and matching production demand with suitable resources using structured provider data, transparent feasibility criteria and explainable recommendations.

Current pilot: Additive manufacturing · Greater Cairo. The underlying architecture is intended to support additional manufacturing technologies, geographies and datasets.

What this is

The Explore module maps actors and their evidence-backed capabilities. The Manufacture module turns a part request into a feasible provider set and compares quantity allocations and logistics. Current operational data used by the matching demonstrator are synthetic unless explicitly stated otherwise.

What this is not yet

It is not yet a transactional marketplace, live capacity exchange, certified quotation engine, or general multi-step production orchestrator. Those functions are future extensions once real provider data and orders are available.

How matching works

From request to recommendation

1Understand the request

Capture file, quantity, process, material, color, deadline and location.

2Analyse the part

Use STL geometry or manual values to obtain dimensions, estimated mass and print time.

3Remove unsuitable providers

Apply hard technical, material, build-envelope, capacity and deadline filters.

4Estimate production

Estimate machine hours, material, provider completion and synthetic cost.

5Consider logistics

Use provider/customer locations to estimate distance and route structures.

6Allocate quantity

Use integer allocation across eligible nodes when one provider is insufficient or suboptimal.

7Explain alternatives

Show selected and rejected providers, quantities, routes, criteria and assumptions.

Provider

Location, access, organization type and contact context.

Capability

Technologies, machines, build envelopes, materials and services.

Capacity

Available machine-hours, lead time and batch constraints where available.

Trust signals

Evidence status and optional external reputation. Ratings are never fabricated when unavailable.

Recommendation logic

Different needs require different objectives

Cheapest

Minimizes estimated production, material, setup and logistics cost for the complete allocated order.

Fastest

Minimizes estimated completion time of the complete order. A small cost tie-breaker avoids unnecessarily expensive equivalent solutions.

Balanced

Combines normalized cost, time, distance and reliability criteria. Default weights are configurable by the user and shown explicitly in the result.

Default balanced weights

Cost 35% · Time 30% · Distance 15% · Reliability 20%. These are MVP defaults, not empirically validated universal weights.

Explainability

Hard-filter rejection reasons are shown directly. Selected providers receive allocation and criterion explanations. Route mode, cost basis, synthetic-data status and analytical assumptions remain visible.
